This song brought me back to memory lane. Like I said in my short message it’s funny when you’re playing music in certain situations in life and whenever you listen to that specific song, memories of that specific situation reoccur. This isn’t the only song that reminds me of situations in my life. But this one was a special one because of the good times I had with this person. We always thought we were going to be together for a long time but look at us now huh? Whenever I play this music I think of her, but I don’t listen to it that much, mostly because I have moved on. For this assignment, What A Song Might Mean To You, I found the song on youtube and then embedded it on here. I then used Voice memos on my iPhone to record my short message and I uploaded it to Soundcloud.
This tongue twister is a doozy. I had trouble with this one. But this is a common twister that had been known for years. I remember this song from elementary school. Tongue twisters are a sequence of words or sounds, typically of an alliterative kind, that is difficult to pronounce quickly and correctly. There are many more tongue twisters but I chose this one specifically because it’s a common one. For this assignment, Tongue Twister, I chose this twister from Engvid. I then used Voice memos to record the tongue twister. After that, I converted the m4a file using Online Audio Converter. I added this file to Audacity with another file from FreeSound. I added them together and exported them to here.

I remember when I was in high school watching The Handmaid’s Tale and I heard this quote. This quote really hit me because of its meaning. Better never means better for everyone. It always means worse for some. And this can be related to everyday life. You can’t make everyone happy. You can try but you won’t be successful. Culture and society are created by different beliefs, politics, and viewpoints. You can’t have Democratic ideologies and Republican ideologies. As an influencer, celebrity, president, or anything else you will have beliefs that others will be against. The song, One Last Time, from Bad Boys for Life, is one of my favorite sounds from the movie. It’s very suspenseful and tense. For this assignment, Quote with a New Feeling, I used Voice memos from my phone to record the quote. I converted it from m4a to mp3 using an Online Audio Converter. I downloaded this song from Documents and then added it to my Google Drive. After that, I imported it to Audacity. I added the two tracks together, cut the sound to make it match with my quote, and then exported it.
Color: The white helps bring out the red message. Red usually means something bad or important. Signs that are red and white mainly signify regulations that you must follow. For example, this sign indicates that the object is part of the Fire Department Connections. But the white background helps signify to anyone that this shouldn’t be messed with.
Symbolism: At first I was going to use this photo for minimalism but then I realized that it represents something. The arrows going back and forth are indicating that this specific can is for recycling.
Form/Function/Message: The figure with the graduation cap, the diploma, the ballons, the quote, they all depict a message. The quote “the places you will go” is related to the book, Oh, the Places you will Go, by Dr. Seuss. This book talks about the journey of life and it’s challenging. This quote relates to the picture because of the figure. The figure is hanging on to balloons with their diploma, signifying once they graduate they will open the door to many opportunities.
Minimalism: This photo is simple. The producer creates this box with a picture of their product, nothing else. There’s no words or anything on top of the box. It’s a simple use of directly telling the consumer what they’re going to get. Why tell the consumer when you can show the consumer?
Reading this article about Chip Kidd’s book, Go, really opened my eyes to design. Day to day I walk around and witness so many different designs but I never really questioned it. After reading this article I started looking around my room and asking myself ‘Why was this designed this way?’ The example of the speed bump was a good way of answering this question. Kidd was explaining to his interviewer that the people who created the speed bump had to think about how could we slow down cars in an area with many pedestrians. They could use a sign but people may ignore it. So they came up with a bump that the drivers couldn’t ignore. Design isn’t just about purposefully planning combinations of forms, pictures, words, and meanings but rather design is problem-solving. The design allows the designer to think deeply about the problem they have and then come up with the best solution for the problem. Even in the article, Design in a Nutshell: One-Minute Animated Primers on Six Major Creative Movements, people were fascinated with the Gothic design to the point that it was a part of every design within Europe. Design is everywhere whether we want to accept it or not.
Bad Boys for Life is my favorite movie for 2020 hands down. I didn’t come into the movie theaters with a lot of expectations because I didn’t watch the first two. But boy, was I impressed. The action, the plot, the climax, the suspense, the music, the acting, everything was on point. It kept me on my toes the entire movie and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Usually, it’s hard to continue a movie series but they did an excellent job. This quote is a very famous quote that Mike Lowrey (Martin Lawrence) says in the Bad Boys saga. The picture is from Bad Boys for Life.
For the assignment, Favorite Movie Quote, I went to Google and looked up an image from Bad Boys. I found one that was from the current movie and saved that to my computer. Then I looked up a quote that was used from the movie. After that, I went to Pixlr and added the quote using the Text button. I changed the font to Artick to make it stand out within the picture. I saved the image and then embedded it here using the Image button.
To all the single people out there, the kings and queens, I just want to let you know that you can make that shot. Basketball players don’t just shoot once and then give up. No, they keep shooting. They keep practicing until they can shoot and make the basket with no problem. And I want you to do the same. So go out there and practice on your game. Keep practicing, keep learning, keep being you and you’ll make that shot.
For this assignment, Motivational Poster, I went to Google and searched for shoot your shot. Once I saved the image I went to the Big Huge Labs and went to the motivational poster template. I uploaded the picture and wrote the text into the poster. After I created the poster I saved it to my computer and embedded it here using the image button.
This assignment was actually very creative. I enjoyed the idea to have a beautiful picture but a depressing or negative quote. I wanted this to be related to the 1980s so I had a picture from 1980s California. Just look at the scenery. The palm trees, the blue sky, the still ocean, the cars parked together, the sun out. If you’ve been to the beach you understand the calmness that hovers over you. However, the quote just ruins the whole picture, just like having a bad haircut can ruin your day. Who wants to think of themselves dying anytime soon? It’s depressing.
For this assignment, Contradiction Creation, I went to Google and searched for a beautiful landscape. I saved the image and then used my old friend Pixlr to add the text. For the text, I used the Print Clearly font. I downloaded the new image and then embedded it using the Image button.
